“They’re trying to create a blizzard of lies,” Florida Governor Ron DeSantis stated while delivering the 2022 Sunshine Summit Victory dinner.
“If you’re running for office, if you’re just a concerned citizen going to a school board meeting, or if you’re going to a public meeting and standing up and speaking the truth and defending the right things at this time is not free,” he added.
“When you’re in this situation, with all of these various forces working to muddy the waters and try to generate a blizzard of lies to blind us from what’s really happening, when you’re willing in that scenario just to stand up and speak the truth, they’ll hit you over and over again,” DeSantis added.
“You must be prepared for battle. Put on the full armor of God,” he said to cheers. “Stand up against the left’s plans. Buckle the belt of truth around your waist as you stand firm with a shield of faith raised before you. You will face fiery arrows, but the shield of faith will defend you.”
DeSantis has long opposed the far left; earlier this month, he slammed Biden’s energy plan as a failure.
“How come it is wrong to create our own gas and oil here in the United States, but you can travel to Saudi Arabia and give a little fist bump in order to obtain it from there?” DeSantis asked during his Monday news conference. “I mean, it doesn’t make any sense at all that we wouldn’t just do it here. We have chances here to be energy independent, free from the worries of these other countries. But they’re deliberately not doing so, and you cannot run the United State’s economy on windmills alone. It just isn’t possible.”
“And now we are in a bad situation where they are bragging that gas has decreased for the previous however many weeks, but it’s still over $4! I have never seen it at $4 in my life while living here,” DeSantis said. “It’s just when you are cranking out the printing presses that energy becomes more expensive. You know, all of this puts additional pressure on everything. So that’s why the acceleration from May to June, which we saw at the end of June, not only — they said it would not happen, then they said it was just a blip, and then they said it would peak soon. Even after that, it didn’t peak. And as a result, for many individuals, making ends meet is becoming increasingly difficult.”
