Russia Starts Full-Scale Operations In Ukraine

Russia has reportedly started a full scale invasion into Ukraine in the early morning hours of Thursday.

Sen. Marco Rubio, Vice Chairman of the Sen. Intel Committee, tweeted, “The Russian invasion of Ukraine has started.”

“In the hours ahead of us, Russia will strike air defense systems, move to block off Kyiv from the eastern parts of Ukraine, and move to block off Ukraine’s military personnel in the eastern regions to prevent them from falling back to Kyiv,” Rubio said.

Russian Pres. Vladimir Putin had announced during his speech that was broadcast in the early morning hours on Thursday that he has started a “special military operation” with the main goal of demilitarizing the nation. Pres. Putin told Ukrainian military personnel to put down their weapons and go home.

He also issued threats that appeared to be targeting NATO and the U.S., saying, “A couple of words for anyone who might be tempted to intervene in the country, Russia will respond immediately and you will see consequences that you have never had in your history.”

Rubio noted that some “explosions” was heard “in the vicinity of the crucial trading port of Mariupol.”

Martha Raddatz has reported that “leaders in the Russian military have gone to their command centers, and cyberattacks are now underway.”

U.N. Secretary Gen. António Guterres has pleaded with the Russians during an emergency meeting, saying, “Pres. Putin, stop this attack on Ukraine.”

Dem President Joe Biden has responded to Russia launching their full-scale attack on Ukraine by saying that nations around the world was praying for the country.

“The prayers of the whole world are with the citizens of Ukraine tonight as they are suffering an unjustified and unprovoked attack by the Russian military,” Biden stated. “Pres. Putin has chosen to start a premeditated war that will only bring a catastrophic loss of lives and human suffering.”

“Only Russia is responsible for the destruction and death this attack will bring to the region, and the U.S. and its Allies and partners will also respond in a decisive and united way,” Pres. Biden claimed without giving any further details. “The world will be holding Russia accountable.”

“I will be monitoring this situation from the WH this evening and will keep getting regular updates from my security team,” he said. “Tomorrow, I will have a meeting with my G7 counterparts in the early morning and then I will speak to the American people to announce what additional consequences the U.S. and our Allies and partners will place on Russia.”
