On Sunday afternoon, Congressman Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) slammed his own party after a letter that threatened to execute him — a missive that he said was addressed to his wife and was delivered to his house.
During a Sunday morning interview on ABC’s “This Week,” Kinzinger, who is one of only 2 Republicans on the January 6th Committee, cited the danger.
“I’m not overly concerned about my personal safety, but I am concerned for my family,” said the Illinois Republican. “This threat that arrived at my home was sent through the mail. We received it less than a week ago and it threatens to kill me, my wife, and five-month-old baby. We have never experienced or seen anything like it before. It was sent from close by,” he added.
“I do not worry, but now that I’m married and have children, of course, it is a little different. There will be violence in the future, I am telling you. We can’t expect anything different until we get our heads straight on telling everyone the truth,” he continued.
After that, Mr. Kinzinger repeated some of the claims that was made by fellow Jan. 6th Committee member and Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA), as well as claiming that the Republican Party has thus far failed to tell the truth.
“I think the president is certainly guilty of conspiring to commit seditious acts, and I believe he was involved in these various segments of pushing the Department of Justice, the VP, etc. My party has totally failed the American people in terms of honesty,” he added.
Following that interview, Kinzinger tweeted a photo of the letter, writing, “Here is the letter. It was addressed to my wife and sent to my house, implying the death of my family. The darkness is spreading thanks to weak politicians who are afraid of truth. Is this what you want from your party? Pastors?”
The letter, which was addressed to Kinzinger’s wife Sofia, stated:
“You are a stupid person!”
“That pimp you married not only violated his pledge, but he sold his soul as well. And yours and Christian’s too! Adam’s proclivities have harmed more than just this nation; they’ve also damaged thousands of patriotic, God-fearing families. He will therefore be put to death despite the fact that it might take some time. But don’t worry because you and Christian will be joining him together very soon!”
“We find it offensive that you called the devil’s son Christian!”
