The bottom line is that Newsom rules the most heavily regulated, overbearing, and taxed state in the country, even to the point where you can not get a plastic straw. Never mind California’s COVID lockdowns which lasted years.
Mayor Newsom’s campaign unveiled its ad on Sunday morning, and it’s just as cringeworthy and out-of-touch as you would expect. Here’s a snippet:
It’s Independence Day, so let’s discuss what’s happening in the United States…
In your state, freedom is under siege. I urge each and every one of you who lives in Florida to join the battle — or move to California, where we continue to believe in liberty: freedom of speech, choice, and freedom from hate, and to love. Do not allow them to take away your freedoms.”
You can only chuckle. Newsom really believes that left-wing platitudes about “freedom to choose and to love” will connect with Floridians, who have a strong economy and enjoy personal freedom on a level only matched by other red states. Imagine believing that people would want to give up their freedoms in order to relocate to a lawless hellhole plagued with sky-high homelessness, heavy taxes, and overbearing government regulations.
It’s ridiculous. But because California allows drag shows in schools, I guess it’s meant to drive people away from Florida. It’s just laughable, and Gov. DeSantis spokesman Dave Abrams hit back with the obvious retort.
“Gavin Newsom may as well set aflame a pile of money,” Dave Abrams, a representative for DeSantis’s re-election campaign, said to The Daily Wire. “Pass the popcorn for his ill-advised effort to attract California’s out-of-state refugees back home after he ravaged their state with incompetence and corruption.”
“The pathetic smear agenda from the Dems and their allies in the mainstream media are ignored by Floridians,” Abrams continued. “We’re too busy appreciating Governor Ron DeSantis’ creation of liberty in the Sunshine State.”
