“Manchin has said to colleagues that his phone has been ringing with top names outside the U.S. Senate in previous days,” an insider said to Politico. “He has heard from former Presidents Clinton and Obama and Oprah Winfrey.”
Manchin is against Build Back Better, stating that it will cause inflation to soar to greater heights and expand the national debt by over $3 trillion in the next ten years.
More crucially, the senator said, enacting the large legislation is not what his voters want.
Unlike most Dems, Manchin is doing his real job — which is to represent people of West Virginia constituents — and not the interests of liberals in California or in Martha’s Vineyard.
The fact that Dems have called in the “big dogs” to pressure Manchin underscores how desperate they have become amid the many crises Joe Biden has caused with his destructive policies.
To his credit, the moderate lawmaker has stayed steadfast against the relentless bullying by liberal mobs, who have intimidated him physically to support the Democrats’ cradle-to-grave social welfare law.
Manchin also has said repeatedly that he will not support the Democrats’ unilateral move to stop the filibuster to federalize elections and to force through Biden’s pricey BBB bill.
Hopefully, the former West Virginia governor will keep sticking to his principles, for his constituents sake as well as for the many Americans who don’t want the U.S. to go into an authoritarian, socialist cesspit.
Winfrey’s presumptuous meddling shows that rich celebs have much more access to the political process than normal Americans.
Regular people cannot call senators on their personal phones to attack them into doing what they want. However, since Oprah has wealth and connections, she has a direct line to Manchin.
This is a huge reason that many Americans hate clueless celebrities who try to influence political outcomes while ignoring the tragic impact it has on the public overall.
A glaring example is how liberals lionization the BLM “defund the police” frenzy to enable violent crime waves in cities that lead to anti-white crimes.
