On Tuesday, President Trump responded to allegations made by a former White House employee during a January 6 House select committee hearing by raising doubts about the witness’s honesty.
On the day of the January 6, 2021, rally, which later erupted into a riot, Hutchinson claims that Trump yelled at Secret Service to take him to the U.S. Capitol building and got furious when they would not do it because the area was not secure.
According to Hutchinson, Trump attempted to take the wheel of an armored presidential limousine and that Engel, who was in charge of security for the vehicle, had to tell him, “Sir, you must remove your hand from the wheel.” Then Trump allegedly lunged at the agent.
On January 6, 2021, Hutchinson claimed that Trump was “angry” that many of his fans apparently did not want to enter the space of the rally because there were magnetometers, or “mags,” that were being used to screen for any weapons..
“I don’t give a damn if they have weapons,” Hutchinson claims she heard Donald Trump tell the Secret Service. “They’re not here to do me harm. Take away the magazines; allow my people entrance. They can go all the way to Capitol Hill from here.”
“I barely know who Cassidy Hutchinson is, besides I heard very bad things about her (a complete phony and ‘leaker’), and when Cassidy asked to go with some other members of our team to Florida after I served a full term in office, I declined her request personally.”
“Why did she want to come with us if she was so afraid of us?” Trump asked. “I know that she was furious and upset that I didn’t want her to go with us or be a member of the team. She’s a real disaster!”
Trump’s assertion that after he left the White House, Hutchinson wanted to work for him is somewhat confirmed by a Jan. 14, 2021, tweet that Bloomberg News reporter Jennifer Jacobs posted: “Aides had assumed Donald Trump would fly out to Mar-a-Lago when he leaves the WH but now it’s clear: He’s going to Florida, and several of his aides will keep working for him, including Molly Michael Nick Luna, and Cassidy Hutchinson.”
“I did not want or ask for guns to be allowed at my speech,” Trump said after being asked whether he wanted people with guns to attend. “Who on earth would want that? That is not something I wanted or desired!”
“Besides, no firearms were discovered or brought into the Capitol Building. So, where did all of these guns come from?” Trump asked.
“Very much like the Unselect Committee itself,” he added. “Her accusations that I attempted to grab the steering wheel are “fake” and “sick and fraudulent,” just as with the Unselect Committee.”
“It wouldn’t have been feasible for me to do something so ridiculous,” he concluded. “Her account of me flinging food is also untrue… Why would SHE have to clean it up? I barely knew who she was.”
